“Our inspiration to become more involved with veterans, as they transition to civilian life, hits close to home, as our fathers were veterans from WWII and the Korean War. Growing up, we heard stories of the sacrifices they made, their struggles adjusting to life back home and how proud they were to serve our country. Our fathers were fortunate enough to become very successful businessmen and our mentors for life. When we heard about the International Franchising Association’s, Veterans Transition Franchise Initiative, (VetFran Program) we thought it was the perfect way to show tribute to our fathers and to others who served our country. As a thank you, FlipFlop® Dogs, LLC is proud to offer a 25% discount to all-honorable discharged veterans.”

VetFran History
The International Franchise Association (IFA) founded VetFran in 1991, after the Gulf War ended, by Chairman Don Dwyer, Sr. (USAF, Ret.). The program was established to encourage IFA members to give veterans a financial incentive to purchase a franchise. This led to achieving the goal in assisting the veterans returning home from the Gulf War, to transition to civilian life.
Today, one out of every seven franchise businesses are owned and operated by a veteran of the U.S. Military, according to a recent study conducted for the International Franchise Association Educational Foundation based on U.S. Census data.
Our Purpose
To provide honorable discharged veterans with a business opportunity in the fast-growing pet industry. As a member of VetFran, FlipFlop Dogs is dedicated to helping veterans transition back to civilian life. As a way to thank you for the sacrifices you and your family made for our country, we offer a lending hand in getting you back into business with the devoted, energetic and, most importantly, hard-working team at FlipFlop Dogs.
Research suggests that:
• Spending time with dogs helps veterans cope back to civilian life.
• Bonding with dogs can provide assistance in veteran’s affected by PTSD, shown by the numerous programs set up for this specific reason.
• Working with a dog can help a veteran decrease their everyday stress.
• Petting an animal can lower your heart rate and blood pressure.
For these reasons, our team at FlipFlop Dogs feel that working with dogs would make a perfect match for veterans.
Why Veterans Make Excellent Franchisees
1. Veterans have strong leadership skills with knowledge of how a team works.
2. Veterans are trained to follow procedures with accuracy and to accomplish a goal.
3. Veterans are given an opportunity to own a business in an occupation that they have no prior experience.
4. As a franchisee, you are supported by a driven management team, which allows you to have all the tools at your disposal.
